MCE Group plc is dedicated to promoting
awareness that contribute to achieving environmental development. We recognize this to be a continuous process
of improvement and we seek to improve our performance, and that of our
suppliers, over time. Our Environmental
Policy expresses MCE’s commitment to achieving this aim and we are continually
looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of our activities. Environmental Impacts The Environmental Protection Act introduced the concept of
integrate pollution control, intended to ensure that substances were managed in
a way that minimised their detrimental effects on the environment. Our most significant adverse environmental
impacts are: §
Consumption
of natural resources in the production, marketing and distribution of our business
and in our general office operations §
Emissions
to the atmosphere from the paints spray booth as well as use of carbon based
energy in the production, sales and distribution of our operations §
Production
of waste materials §
The
environmental performance of our suppliers Our most significant positive environmental impacts are working to
minimize and mitigate our carbon footprint; to reduce and eliminate waste and
to promote renewable sourcing of raw materials where feasible, particularly
wood-fibre and energy. ·
Minimise waste by
evaluating operations and ensuring that they are as efficient as possible. ·
Minimise toxic
emissions through the selection and use of our fleet and the source of its
power requirement. ·
Actively promote
recycling both internally and amongst our customers and suppliers. ·
Source and promote
a product and services range to minimise the environmental impact of both
production and distribution. ·
Meet or exceed all
the environmental legislation that relates to the Company ·
Implement an
Environmental Management System based on the requirements of the International
Standard ISO 14001
Our Commitment To deliver this Policy and ensure environmental standards are
maintained, the Managing Director has delegated the following key responsibilities
to the relevant Department Head, Managers and Supervisors: §
To
provide information and appropriate training for all employees on our
environmental procedures and goals §
Reduce the
likelihood of environmental accidents and incidents through the use of risk
assessments and action planning §
When determining
priorities for the allocation of resources, environmental objectives shall be
given equal consideration with all other organisation objectives to: §
Conserve raw
materials. §
Reduce pollution. §
Save energy. In
addition all employees and contractors have duties and responsibilities under
this policy. These individual
responsibilities are detailed in job descriptions, company handbooks,
procedures and work instructions. Furthermore
the Managing Director has delegated day to day management of environmental issues
to the Quality Manager to ensure: §
To
oversee and review our environmental policy and all of our purchasing practices
and operations and to set the future direction of our environmental practices,
conduct monitoring and seek continuous improvement in our environmental
performance §
To set
objectives, targets and programmes to improve our environmental performance,
including preventing pollution and the pursuit of recognized environmental
standards amongst our suppliers such as FSC paper sourcing, ISO 14001, EMAS, BS
8555 and SA8000 §
To
comply with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, identifying and
applying the best available techniques wherever possible §
To
regularly review and audit our environmental practices and work with Department
Managers, Supervisors and other personnel as necessary to improve our
performance. §
To
work towards the relevant certification(s) for a company of our size and
